*God created family before church*
Unity for believers must begin at the level of the family before it can truly characterize the Church. God created families long before He created the Church. He gave many specific instructions to families with the intent of unifying husbands and wives and children into a unit that would honor and reverence Him.
A father, mother and children, together they make a happy and flourishing family. Today, people are staying together under one roof but the unity and connection between them is lost somewhere.
Can you imagine how quickly God’s kingdom would grow if the Church was comprised of unified families obediently carrying out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission? If each individual family member, and each relationship represented within each family, would determine to live in unity, and if we were all committed to loving the Lord with a desperate passion, and to loving others as Jesus loves us…perhaps then, a watching world would be drawn to the Father. A family should and must begin with unity –connection, identity, building up of one another, etc. God has given much instruction to parents and to children about their relationships within their families. Only in unity are we able to carry out these relationships successfully, and in ways that are pleasing to the Lord. In order for unbelievers to truly know the love of Christ, they must see it in the unified, loving families that comprise Jesus’ Church.
The family as the first nation ( Genesis 1:27)
A family is the first nation GOD built on earth because He knew physical nations and cities will be birthed from this institution.
When the enemy cripples a family he has attacked the nation at large , therefore he has attacked the;
●Value system of the nation
●Moral system of the nation
● And corruption becomes the order of the day.
Today parents have stopped raising their children and it’s now gadgets, phones, laptops, computers games & house helps that are raising our innocent kids regardless of the lessons they keep learning from this things.
*Different types of unity*
1) Unity of family.
2) Unity of faith.( household of faith)
3) Unity of peace and love.( togetherness)
4) Unity of purpose. ( doing things together, vision, mission and goals)
5) Unity in agreement. ( two cannot walk together unless they agree Amos 3:3)
*Four important pillars in building the family unity*
1) Commitment.
2)Compassion.
3) Communication.
4) Communion ( prayer and the word)
*Note* There are two major authorities that the bible recognises ;
1) Spiritual authority ( Pastors and ministers of the gospel)
2) Parental authority. ( parents and guardians)
*Accesing Parental blessings*
1) Honour your parents.
Honor means to have value, decoration, preference. There are people whose parents don’t have value in their eyes. No wonder they are on a steady fall in life. Reference your parents. See them like God. In the actual fact they are your earthly God.
Serve your parents 2 kings 3: 11b. This is Elisha, but his CV was not a powerful prophet who divided Jordan but “… who poured water on the hands of Elijah”. If you don’t serve your parents your children will not serve you! Visit them, wash them clothes, make their hair, if they are too old bath them and collect your generation blessing from their mouth.
The opposite of parental blessings is parental curses. If you have done anything that earned you parent curses before then the only remedy I know is to seek the forgiveness and blessing of your parents but if they are deed then you need serious prayer and deliverance.
Parental curses can ;
A)It limits potential Genesis 49: 4
B) It attract other curses of life
C) It leads to division
D) Spiritual and physical barrenness
E) Demotion of all sorts
F) Breakdown instead of breakthroughs
G) No helpers
H) Misfired aggression
1) Spoiling the spoiler
J) Resistance in the place of enthronement
It makes great sense to honor your parents . They are part of your life as long as they and you are alive. Hopefully too, they will be grandparents of your children.
2) Giving gifts.
Another way to unlock this kind of blessing is by giving gifts to your parents or guardians. These can be anything that you identify they need and will be glad about. There is no boundary to the gifts you should give them. You know them much better than anyone out there. Choose the gift and hand it over to them in person so that you can perceive the joy in their face and wait for the words of gratitude and blessings from them. Don’t wait for special events like Christmas, birthdays, Easter, etc. Every time is appropriate to access your parental blessings. Hence, you should make it a regular habit to do in a whole-hearted manner. These wonderful gifts can help greatly to unlock the hidden treasures locked inside your parents for you.
3) Acts of kindness.
Proverbs 11:29 ” He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.”
To access parental blessings, you can also do something for your parents like cooking for them or cleaning, these will make them happy. There is no limit regarding the ways you should help your parents despite not giving them material things. They will be joyful and bless you for that. Think of those talents and knowledge you have that can be of great benefit to your parents. You can follow them to shops, banks, etc. It is these caring that will prompt them to bless you.
Proverbs 15:20 – ” A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.”
Matthew 15:4 – ” For God said, “Honor your father and mother”, and “Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.”
Ephesians 5:25 – ” Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
Romans 12:9 – ” Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.”
Exodus 20:12 ” Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”
Psalms 127:3-5 ” Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
