Leadership in ministry
Precious dear ministers, please kindly note that MINISTRY GRACE is one thing but LEADERSHIP SKILLS is another.
You can be a firebrand Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist or Pastor but a very poor leader.
If care is not taken, defective leadership will limit your ministry expression.
Being a great and effective leader is MUCH MORE than the ability to preach, teach or manifest signs and wonders.
Whereas MINISTRY borders on GRACE and ANOINTING, LEADERSHIP borders on SKILL. There is such a thing as called LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT.
Leadership is the ability to INSPIRE and MOBILIZE people towards a common goal.
As the LORD is helping the great Body of Christ with titles and themes like ANOINTING CONFERENCE, GRACE CONFERENCE, GREATER GLORY CONFERENCE etc, let us also combine and balance it with LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCES.
This combination will help the body of Christ to raise as many leaders as possible to spear head and sustain a move of God in a territory.
We can’t pray and fast for good leadership in a nation whereas we the church we haven’t trained, equipped, discipled and commissioned leaders with excellence performance and yet remain spiritual.
Leadership deals primarily with;
- People management.
- Resource management.
- Human capital development.
- Inspired followership. Etc
We can’t raise Kingdom leaders across all the mountains of influence with only prayer and fasting, lets organize LEADERSHIP SUMMITS and invite proven leaders very well equipped with knowledge and understanding to both equip and disciple our people.
I made a prayer many years ago and I still pray it till today, this is the prayer, ” Oh LORD, give me the grace to raise LEADERS not SYCOPHANTS. Men and women who will discover their voice through mine, those who will discover their platforms through mine, those who will discover their graces through mine, those who will discover their giftings, roles and placements in Christ through mine….”
By the grace of Christ I have seen a fraction of the manifestation of this heartfelt prayers in our
ministry and the “one on one ” mentorship classes that I organise.
Dear Bishop, Pastor and man of God, the sad part of it is when we look keenly, we are only surrounded by men and women who only carry our bibles, armour bearers, ushers who only catch congregants when they fall under the anointing, young people who are very vibrant but sycophants, we are only surrounded by people who are only allowed to say ” YES SIR” at our beck and call….
While all the above is okay, have you raised those who will carry the mantle?
Have you raised the next generation of ministers? Have you trained marital counsellors? Have you discipled youth who will get into politics? Have you discipled men and women whose marriages will bring glory to God ? Have you raised Sunday school teachers? Have you raised youth coordinators? Does your assembly have profitable prayer departments with efficient prayer leaders? Have you discipled children who will become moral examples in the society ? Have you trained business owners? The list goes on and on…..
When we look into this matter keenly, we will realise the gaps in our generation Let’s come back to ministry and church, ANOINTING and GRACE can bring in the gains of ministry
but EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP will sustain the gains.
Leadership is the ability to manage the strengths and weaknesses, assets and liabilities in people in order to bring out the best in them.
Leadership talks about human development and resource management.
Often, a leader is not necessarily the most fluent, eloquent, gifted, brilliant or intelligent but one who can harness the potentials of others to galvanize and realise the collective mandate.
This happens in any formation, in politics, business, the corporate world, etc…
A great President of a country is not necessarily the brightest of all but one who is able to effectively
harness, develop and deploy the strength of the cabinet members for the greater good of the nation. By the same token, a minister of the gospel must be well schooled and trained in LEADERSHIP
MATTERS. Many pastors do not know how to manage people, they talk to people anyhow, they act carelessly, they are despotic and high headed, they abuse everyone and they are helpless when it comes to inspiring people. I say this with great love and grace to the beloved Body of Christ to whom I am part of.
Dear ministers, it is high time we begin to develop the LEADERSHIP SIDE OF OUR CALLING AND
MINISTRY.
Don’t be Mr “know it all ” don’t act as the ” Lord of Lords and the king of kings, ” raise others to support your vision and mission, have a listening ear, be tellable….. I have no doubt that The Holy Spirit is ministering to you now through this article. I beseech you with the Love of Christ, kindly take heed and you shall notice a difference in your assembly, church,
department or ministry.
