How God takes a man from smallness to greatness.
Every gracious act of God you see in Scriptures is replicable by faith. You see the man Abraham; the Lord took him from SMALLNESS to GREATNESS, and if you follow THE STEPS OF ABRAHAM’S FAITH, as we’re admonished in the New Testament (Rm.4:12), then the sky will be your beginning.
The Word tells us to draw divine inspiration from the life of Abraham.
ISAIAH 51:2
Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I CALLED him alone, and BLESSED him, and INCREASED him.
God CALLED him when he was a nobody, BLESSED him and then INCREASED him. Glory to God!!!
Briefly, let’s look at FOUR IMPORTANT STAGES in the call of Abraham which signify God’s principles of lifting and promoting men to the realm of greatness. God made four statements to Abraham which reflected His eternal plan for him, and these are valid covenant principles today in God’s system of lifting men.
GENESIS 12:1-3,7
1. Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I WILL SHEW THEE:
2. And I WILL MAKE OF THEE a great nation, and I WILL BLESS THEE, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3. And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
was then in the land.
7. And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed WILL I GIVE THIS LAND: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.
God made these FOUR STATEMENTS in their order of importance without putting the cart before the horse.
- I will SHOW thee… That’s REVELATION.
- I will MAKE thee… That’s PROCESS.
- I will BLESS thee… That’s EMPOWERMENT.
- I will GIVE thee… That’s POSSESSION.
One, God always starts you on the platform of REVELATION. Whatever God wants to do in your life, He first REVEALS it to your spirit.
Revelation therefore is your entry point in the race of destiny. One singular question God has asked great men and women throughout Bible times and also in contemporary times is this, “What seeth thou?”. He asked Jeremiah the same question (Jer.1:11). So, the first thing is REVELATION — you must CAPTURE in your spirit what God wants to do in your life.
Two, from REVELATION God then begins to MAKE and MOULD you. That’s where divine process, training and tutelage come in.
Many people are always telling God, “GIVE ME” instead of first saying “SHOW ME”, and then “MAKE ME”. You remember that the prodigal son also fell into the same trap (Lk.15:12,19)?
When Jesus first chose His disciples, the first thing He said was, “Follow me, and I WILL MAKE YOU FISHERS OF MEN” (Matt.4:19).
So, IN THE KINGDOM, THE MAKING PROCESS COMES BEFORE THE GIVING PROCESS.
Before Christ began to give platforms, portions and inheritances to His apostles, HE MADE THEM FIRST (Mk.3:14, Lk.22:28-29, Lk.24:49, Acts 1:8).
An untrained minister is not an ASSET to the Body of Christ, even though he’s a MEMBER of the Body of Christ.
Three, God told Abraham, “I will BLESS thee”. That’s DIVINE EMPOWERMENT.
The blessing of God is a divine empowerment to succeed against all odds and contradictions.
That was what God gave Adam and Eve (Gen.1:28). The blessing is invisible, and when it is upon your life, things fall in line for you.
If you’re EMPOWERED WITHOUT BEING TRAINED, then you’ll become a danger to yourself and to your generation.
Remember that Abraham armed his trained servants (Gen.14:14).
Four, in that encounter, God told Abraham, “I WILL GIVE THY SEED THIS LAND…”.
That’s POSSESSION. That’s when you begin to take practical delivery of your inheritance in the natural realm, but notice that it didn’t start there.
God always wants to make you stronger than what He wants to give you so that you will not be controlled by it.
Everything you’re trusting God for to give you which is a part of your destiny is a done deal, but you must ensure that YOU’RE MADE FIRST.
These are the FOUR STAGES every man will go through in order to enter into greatness, including those of us called into ministry, and if you look at Scriptures, these principles cut across different generations as God lifted different men and women into the realm of greatness.
Never forget that this procedure doesn’t start with “GIVE ME”. No, it starts with “SHOW ME”, and then it dovetails into greatness.
As a way of recap, here are the four stages again as exemplified by the life of Abraham:
- I will SHOW thee… That’s REVELATION (Gen.12:1).
- I will MAKE thee… That’s PROCESS (Gen.12:2).
- I will BLESS thee… That’s EMPOWERMENT (Gen.12:2).
- I will GIVE thee… That’s POSSESSION (Gen.12:7).
Following this process without distraction, the sky can only be your beginning in life and ministry.
May the Lord give us understanding!
Amen!!
I trust this is a blessing
